Hockey - Boys 3-3 draw

The boys' hockey team played top of the table St Peters and came out
with a respectable 3-3 draw. Rangitikei dominated the first half to take a
convincing 2-0 lead into the break.
Goals were scored by Adam Kelly and Darwie Taske.
In the second half
St Peters defense tightened up and they were also the first to score against
the run of play after ten minutes to take the score to 2-1. Once again Rangitikei took control and were
unlucky not to increase their lead on several occasions. Again St
Peters broke out and scored their second goal to tie
the game up at 2 all with 10 minutes left.
Rangitikei immediately replied with a goal to William Stokes after good
work from Cameron Randles in the circle.
With the game really opening up St Peters then replied from a penalty
corner with 5 minutes to go to make the score 3-3 as it was to remain until the
end of the game.
Players to stand out on attack were Cameron Randles,
William Stokes and Darwie Tasker. In
midfield Adam Kelly, Hamish Melody, Joshua Keyes-Kumeroa and Mark Jones were
outstanding in both attack and defense.
Matthew Haskell and Hamish Wing also played well filling in for players
away on a school camp. On defense
Matthew Hicks was outstanding and worked hard with fellow defenders to keep St Peters at bay. Goalie Jake Wright also made some good saves
and rallied his troops well when needed
