Principal's Comment

As we draw a busy term to an end it is time to reflect on what activities we have undertaken so far this year.
We have welcomed nearly 100 new students so far this year, many of these at our powhiri at the start of the year. We have had successful camps for Years 9, 10 and 13. Athletics and swimming sports were major school events which saw fine weather and excellent spirit combine for two enjoyable days. Leadership training for Years 11 and 12, careers information, a Navy visit, a visiting poet and Science Road Show amongst other things.
Students have just had their interim progress reports and we are holding an informal Parent Teacher meeting on Wednesday 8th April from 4-6pm as a follow-up to these reports. Such occasions are important as it allows all parties to chat about how things are going and what needs to be improved upon for the future. Parents who attend will have the opportunity to participate in our surveys and give us valuable feedback on what we are doing at the College.
We do value your input and we are always looking to improve on what we do at our school. If you are unable to come along on Wednesday those people who receive e-mail will be able to use the link on the attachment to give them access to the Welcom site and our surveys which can be completed online.
I would like to wish all staff, students and parents a wonderful Easter and two weeks holidays. When we return for Term 2 students will notice a difference with the construction of our Administration Block and Student Centre being underway. They will also have the new canteen and shelter area which will be available at the start of term.
From Thursday it will be time to enjoy a break if you can and reflect on the first term's progress. To the students I say enjoy the break but do not forget to complete any assessments that are due at the start of the new term. To staff I thank you for your hard work and dedication, enjoy as much of a break away as possible over the next two weeks, you have earned it. To the parents, I hope you enjoy having the kids at home over the next two weeks. They have Work Day in May so maybe they could start earning some money in the holidays by stacking the wood, weeding or other tasks around the home!
