Free For Year Nines
Once again all Year 9 students at Rangitikei College received their free stationery packs last week. The packs which include stationery needed for the year as well as numeracy and literacy workbooks are supplied by the Rangitikei College Trust who also pays subject fees for the same students. Principal Mr Lance Christiansen said the support of the Trust was ongoing and very much appreciated by students and parents at what is traditionally a very expensive time of the year. “We are very lucky to have the College Trust continue to support this initiative; the students are always very excited when they receive their packs.”... New Building Opening 5 March
The newly built Administration Block will be opened on 5 March by BOT Chair Karyn Randles. After spending 2009 in temporary quaters the staff and students are looking forward to the new and improved building which houses the Main Office and Guidnace area as well as Senior Management offices.... Bonnie In the Picture
Bonnie Wroe is a talented art student who as a Year 13 student from Rangitikei College last year was awarded an excellence at Level Three NCEA for her art folio. As such she has had her work displayed at the Te Manawa exhibition along with other Level 3 2008 merit and excellent folio boards of the Art disciplines; painting, photography, design and printmaking from local Manawatu schools. As we draw a busy term to an end it is time to reflect on what activities we have undertaken so far this year.
We have welcomed nearly 100 new students so far this year, many of these at our powhiri at the start of the year.

Presentation at National Conference
Assistant Principal Tina Aomarere recently presented at the national Learning @ Schools conference in Rotorua attended by over 1200 teachers and educationalists. Ms Aomarere was invited to show how she and other staff at the College use our Learning Management System, called ‘Moodle'. Her enthusiasm for the use of ‘Moodle' as a teaching and learning tool was obvious and was well received by conference delegates. Hockey - Boys 3-3 draw
The boys' hockey team played top of the table St Peters and came out with a respectable 3-3 draw. Rangitikei dominated the first half to take a convincing 2-0 lead into the break. Goals were scored by Adam Kelly and Darwie Taske. In the second half St Peters defense tightened up and they were also the first to score against the run of play after ten minutes to take the score to 2-1. Once again Rangitikei took control and were unlucky not to increase their lead on several occasions. Again St Peters broke out and scored their second goal to tie the game up at 2 all with 10 minutes left.... Read full article » |
